The Dorrance, Providence’s Newest Event Space and Restaurant, Coming Soon
Thursday, September 23, 2010
There's a new special event facility coming to the Union Trust building on Dorrance Street in downtown Providence. The Dorrance will not only provide an exquisite new space for weddings and other special events, but will also be a central meeting place for lunch each day, as well as a champagne and tapas lounge in the evenings. The Dorrance is being created and managed by the Lester family who have worked in the hospitality industry for decades. Co-proprietor Regina Curran Lester said, “For years we have wanted to own a family business based on the ultimate hospitality experience, and this historic space offered the perfect opportunity. We have a strong love of food and entertaining and wanted to reach out to the public and surrounding community to celebrate this beautiful building in Providence.” Gary Brandeis of 170 Westminster Street, LLC, the building’s owner, added, “We are thrilled to welcome the Lesters to our property and can’t wait for the launch of The Dorrance. This vibrant new business will add excitement and vitality to not only our building, but the surrounding neighborhood--our tenants and the community are going to love it."
Chef Joseph Hafner, formerly of Gracie's, will be consulting on the menus for the various culinary requirements of lunch, lounge and events. The Dorrance is currently undergoing renovations by Kyla Coburn Designs and is slated to open in early December 2010. The beautiful redesigned space will host everything from weddings, holiday celebrations, charitable events, corporate events and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs to unique cocktail dinners featuring master mixologists from around the world.
