The Cellar: Don’t Miss The 2013 Boston Wine Expo

Friday, February 15, 2013

Don't miss an opportunity to sample some the world's most interesting wines at the upcoming 2013 Boston Wine Expo.

If you haven’t dug yourself out of the snow yet, here’s a good reason to get out the shovel. What is widely considered to be the America's largest consumer wine expo, as well as best wine-tasting deal around is taking place this weekend. I am of course talking about the 2013 Boston Wine Expo, which takes place at the Seaport World Trade Center and Seaport Hotel in Boston February 16-17, 2013.

Grand Tasting

Tickets remain on sale for this weekend’s Grand Tasting where you can sample wine from over 185 wineries around the globe and taste culinary creations from the area’s most popular restaurants. Plus there’s lifestyle and food exhibits as well…all presented in a dramatic new layout showcasing the four main wine regions of the world – North America, Western Europe, the Mediterranean and the Southern Hemisphere. In addition, two stages are set up to spotlight the hottest chefs in New England.

Grand Cru Wine Lounge

There are also tickets remaining for the Grand Cru Wine Lounge where the more serious wine enthusiasts can sample rare and expensive bottles of wine. Located in a private room away from the Grand Tasting, the Grand Cru is the perfect way to spend an afternoon sampling fine wine and tasting delectable treats from the top restaurants in the city. All wines poured in the Grand Cru retail for $75 or more. There will be live entertainment from Elan Trotman courtesy of Scullers Jazz Club. Ticket includes admission to the Grand Tasting on the same day.

Seminars and Vintners Dinners

Tickets for this weekend’s Wine Seminars are selling out fast, so if you want to learn how to “Taste like a Pro” with Wine Spectator’s Gloria Maroti Frazee, explore Oregon Pinot Noir or Portugal’s Port and Madeira, dig into Italy’s famed Barbaresco wine or taste a vertical (several vintages) from one of the best Chateauneuf-du-Pape producers in the world, Chateau de Beaucastel – just to mention a few - you should act fast! Most of these seminars are fantastic values! If you want to end your day on the highest note possible consider attending one of the exclusive Vintner’s Dinners. These events, which are hosted by the wineries, will be held at some of Boston’s most enticing restaurants. Local favorites will provide the opportunity for guest to taste creative pairings of food and wine as they learn about each. For a list of dinners, menus, prices, etc., click here.
