Let the cocktail call go out, from this place, to all Rhode Island bartenders:

Now is the time to create an ionic Rhode Island cocktail and win $1,000. Yes, $1,000... cash.

Bottles Fine Wines is holding a cocktail contest inspired by the RISD Museum's upcoming Cocktail Culture exhibition. The EastSide Marketplace establishment is casting statewide for the perfect blend. The winning bit of mixology will not only win a grand for its creator, but be served at the exhibition's kick-off party on April 14 celebrating Cocktail Culture. (The show opens April 15).

A semi-final sip-off will be held on March 28 at Waterman Grille from 6-8pm, and a final competition will take place at Local 121 on April 3 from 6-8pm. Both these events are open to the public.

What it will take to win

Claim, identify or solidify a cocktail that is attached to Rhode Island via history or ingredients and/or being a part of the State’s culture either past or present;

Be simple to make, using ingredients that are widely available and inexpensive;

Be delicious, visually appealing and easy to prepare either at home or behind any bar;

Be iconic, standing alongside Manhattans, Mint Juleps, Sazaracs and the like.
