Providence’s Saha Naturals Partners with Edesia to End Malnutrition
Saturday, December 06, 2014
Saha Naturals, a brand-new supplement company based out of Providence, has partnered with the non-profit Edesia to provide better nutritional options for the malnourished in poorer countries. Saha Naturals is the brainchild of Co-Owners Aref Shehadeh and Ben Smidt who set out to provide consumers with increased transparency regarding what goes into their supplements.
“One of our biggest focuses is on our product,” says Smidt. “We wanted the best quality on the market that was not outrageously priced but the quality was still high, with all-natural ingredients and non-GMO.”
“We always had the ambition to start in nutrition,” says Shehadeh. “We always talked about how difficult it is to compare the supplement market with the food market- their is a lot of change in terms of food and transparency but not with supplements. A lot of the websites are very scientific and we wanted to start a natural supplement brand.”

“We went on a personal quest to find other organizations that could fit our model to give nutrition to customers and extend nutrition to those who can’t access to it,” says Shehadeh. “We had a contact at Edesia and when we spoke about it it made so much sense to donate nutrition packets for each bottle sold - we wanted to empower the consumer.”
Saha Naturals is currently working on a #RIAgainstHunger campaign to continue to raise awareness on the amount of malnourished children in the US and around the world.
The Saha Team will be at the Synergy Christmas Spectacular, on December 9 to promote their new one-to-one initiative with snack foods in the form of a new fortified peanut butter called Plumpy'nut.
