Setting the table for two has never been easier. OpenTable, the leading provider of free, real-time online restaurant reservations for diners, and users of the site have named three Rhode Island restaurants among the Top 100 “Most Romantic” restaurants in the US. Based on almost 5 million restaurant reviews on the OpenTable site in the past year, the list includes Narragansett’s Basil's Restaurant and Newport darlings The Spiced Pear and Restaurant Bouchard.

California blew away the competition with 16 restaurants on the list, while Hawaii trailed behind with ten restaurants. Florida took eight spots and Nevada, Texas and Virginia each took five. New York, Ohio and Utah placed four restaurants apiece.

All restaurants on the list won praise for their fine dining, though reviews for The Spiced Pear also highlight its excellent sea-side views of the Cliff Walk. Located within luxury resort The Chanler at Cliff Walk, The Spiced Pear features contemporary Continental cuisine with an eponymous Spiced Pear Souffle on its Chef’s Tasting menu.

Restaurant Bouchard — also located within the eponymously named Bouchard Inn — is a perennial award-winner, claiming a spot on OpenTable’s 2011 Top Restaurants List and GoLocalProv’s own list of Most Romantic Restaurants in 2012. The restaurant’s contemporary French cuisine and 1785 Georgian-style building have also won the establishment OpenTable awards for Best Food and Best Service.

Basil’s Restaurant, the sole Narraganssett establishment on the list, holds its own with daily specials and a three-course seasonal prix fixe menu for $25.00. Located a block away from Narragansett Beach and Narragansett Towers, the French cuisine includes an extensive wine list perfectly suited for two.
