The "braided powerhouse," chef Celina Tio returns to Gracie's, Providence.

Nationally recognized chef, reality TV contestant and restaurateur Celina Tio returns to Providence on March 19 to wow guests as part of Gracie’s Restaurant Star Chef Series. In this, her third visit to the restaurant as chef of honor, Tio will work with the Gracie’s team to create the cornerstone of the Star Chef series – a unique, five-course dinner paired with wine. The dinner will begin at 6 pm and select tickets are still available.

It's a happy return for Gracie's owner Ellen Gracyalny. "Celina was our inaugural Star Chef, making her visits here extra special to our team," Gracyalny said. "We always enjoy collaborating with her on creating sensational comfort food dishes and using the freshest ingredients possible while doing so. We are tremendously excited about her upcoming visit!"

The "braided powerhouse"

Easily recognizable as the braided powerhouse from Food Network’s The Next Iron Chef and Bravo TV’s Top Chef Masters, Chef Tio is considered the best of the best from Kansas City, MO. The 2005 Chef of the Year (Chef Magazine) and recipient of the James Beard Foundation’s 2007 Best Chef Midwest award, Tio earned her stripes during seven years as the executive chef of The American Restaurant in Kansas City. Tio now creates chef-driven “feel good food” for guests, family and friends in her first proprietary restaurant, JULIAN, named after her primary cooking influences: Julia Child and her grandfather Julian, who put a chef’s knife in the then-eight-year old Tio’s hands and taught her how to use it right.

Working collaboratively, the Star Chef and the team create a five-course menu that is expertly paired with wine. The informal and intimate format allows the chefs to step out of the kitchen from time to time and talk with guests about the meal and their experience.

The cost for each five-course dinner (paired with wine) is $100. To learn more, visit www.graciesprov.com or call 401.272.7811. You can also follow Gracie’s on Facebook here
