Oh the weather outside is frightful. But the cocktails here are delightful. Don't miss my favorite winter blends this season, and where to drink them.

Chocolate Biscotti Martini - Gracie's, Providence

Gracie's is always a sure thing in the cocktail department. This season they have certainly not disappointed. The Chocolate Biscotti Martini with Belvedere Vodka and chocolate liquor is sure to please. The real stand-outs in this cocktail are the house-made biscotti syrup and the house-made biscotti cookie that garnish this festive seasonal drink. ($12)

Grand Cafe - The Bradford, Providence

While you're in the mood for a classic be sure to check out this coffee-based warm-you-up. The Bradford combines Grand Marnier with Captain Morgan, hot coffee and cinnamon. Simple, assured. ($10)

Clement Cider - DeWolf Tavern, Bristol

Chef Sai Viswanath looks to court the details with his house-made mulled cider. He marries star anise, cardamom pods, apples and chile peppers with local apple cider before adding Rhum Clement Creole Shrub. The orange notes elevate this libation beyond its standard cider contemporaries. ($10)

Buttered Rum - Meritage, East Greenwich

After some holiday shopping on Main Street in EG relax with a Buttered Rum at Meritage. Spiced rum and butter schnapps escort Stoli vanilla vodka to a sweet, warm end. ($8.50)

Plush - Tini, Providence

Don't let this cute name fool you. This drink is thoughtful and confident. Start with frothed milk before introducing brandy and some retro Galliano. Topped off with a dash of angostura, a splash of simple and a sprinkle of nutmeg, this Washington street cocktail is on its way to being a winter legend. ($9)

Hot Toddy - The Inn at Castle Hill, Newport

I'm going old school here. Think of whole cloves spliced with chunks of lemon in an Irish coffee glass. Add some local Aquidneck honey before topping it off with brandy and hot water. Have another and consider spending the night. ($9)

The Original Old Fashioned - Christie's @ 41 North, Newport

This upbeat location provides a great stop-in on a cold Newport winter's night. Maker's Mark Bourbon on the rocks with bitters meets muddled fruit to make a truly warming beverage that demands exploring. ($10)
