From Woonsocket to Newport, Thursday will be a day for sharing meals and sharing support, all for AIDS Project RI.

More than 40 restaurants statewide will take part in "Dining Out for Life," a day where restaurants donate a portion of their sales to RI's central organization for providing clinical and support services statewide for low-income people with HIV/AIDS.

“We are thankful 40-plus restaurants have stepped forward to help people living with HIV/AIDS,” said Thomas Bertrand, MPH, AIDS Project RI’s executive director.  “We’re asking people to support them by dining out at these establishments."

Bertrand hoped that the event does as much good for the restaurants as for his organization. “We hope they’re extremely busy, not only for us, but to help their businesses overall.  We hope they get a lot of new customers who will support them all year long,” he said.
