TIMELINE: The Amazing Growth of RI’s Alex and Ani

In a state that is in the bottom of most business rankings and has the highest unemployment in the country, a few emerging companies have sparked some hope for the future of the Rhode Island economy.

Betaspring (the business incubator), Swipely, Andera, and Alex and Ani have stood out as innovative, fast growing and potential job creators.

In just four years, Alex and Ani has grown from a reported $4 million in revenue to over $200 million. During this time, the team of founder Carolyn Rafaelian and Giovanni Feroce have lead the company's growth.

Now, Feroce is out as CEO and Rafaelian is acting CEO. Take a look at some of the Alex and Ani milestones over the past three years.

Hard to blame the 195 Redevelopment Commission for anything. The city of Providence has the highest commercial tax rate in the country and the state is known as being business UNfriendly. Both contribute to the "not hot".
