This years awards go to the rehabilitation of the Beaman & Smith Co. Mill in Upper South Providence, the Reuben and Family Sweet House and the Providence G.

Beaman & Smith Co. Mill

The Beaman & Smith Co. Mill in Upper South Providence will be honored with a project award. When Providence Community Health Centers purchased the property in 2003, it had a number of issues including groundwater contamination, hazardous building materials, and neglected structures.

Twelve years after purchasing the building, PCHC has turned it into two historic buildings that provide health care, economic opportunity and hope to the community.

Reuben and Emily Sweet House family

The Reuben and Emily Sweet House was purchased two years ago by the Providence Revolving Fund while the building was in terrible condition. Termites chewed the sill and framing up to the second floor and squirrels ran free.

DaSilva Painting worked on the exterior including taking apart the granite stairs and then rebuilding them on concrete supports.

WR Construction finished the interior renovation including a new staircase.

The Revolving Fund has found one extended family to live in the two family house.

Providence G

The inside of Providence Gas consisted of dropped ceilings, office partitions and wall to wall carpet which were removed and G Pub and an all-season Rooftop at the Providence G was put atop the Gas Company Building but remains invisible from the street.
