A free webinar will be held Wednesday open to educate small business owners in Rhode Island about the state's new Temporary Caregiver Insurance Program, which went into effect in January.

Small Business Majority’s Northeast Outreach Manager will provide an overview of the TCI program and answer questions on the webinar.  The TCI program provides 4 weeks paid leave for employees that need to spend bonding time with a young child or care for a sick family member. The webinar is being hosted by Small Business Majority and the Cranston Chamber of Commerce.

“Many small business owners think of their employees as family, so they support policies that enable them to foster a happier workforce while protecting their workers and their bottom line. But they need to know how to take advantage of programs like the one Rhode Island recently enacted,” Rettig said. “Our hope is that this seminar allows employers, including those who are so busy that they only have a few spare moments, to get the information they need to better understand the Temporary Caregiver Insurance program.”

“These types of policies help level the playing field between small businesses that want to offer this benefit but can’t, and their larger counterparts that can,” said Steve Boyle, President of the Cranston Chamber of Commerce. “These interactive dialogues are a great way for small businesses to get the information they need to take advantage of this new program, and for us to get feedback on their thoughts and concerns.”

The webinar will take place on Wednesday, August 6th from 11:00am−12:00pm EDT. Small business owners can register for the interactive call online at https://cc.readytalk.com/cc/s/registrations/new?cid=bg3qv815eir2. For more information, please contact Erik Rettig at [email protected].
