NEW: RI Home Sales Once Again Lead New England
Wednesday, October 17, 2012
Rhode Island has once again posted the largest year-over-year increase in New England, with home sales up 17.4%, according to the RE/MAX of New England September Monthly Housing Report.
The report shows year-over-year home sales in New England increased just 5.7%. The median housing prices remained flat for most states, a trend that RE/MAX says has been the case over the last 7 months.
"September's numbers are encouraging. However, election years tend to result in lower consumer confidence," said Dan Breault, RE/MAX of New England Executive Vice President & Regional Director.
"In New England, we've seen an increase in activity throughout 2012," Breault said, "however, prices need to increase to realize a full housing market recovery. We'll be watching the data post election cycle, carefully."
