Veteran public relations professional Patti Doyle has announced she will be launching her own shop, Patti Doyle Communications, Inc., starting next month.

Doyle, who had been at RDW Group since 1987, will retain Twin River Casino as a client, as well as several others to start.  Doyle's husband and founding partner, Mike Doyle, retired earlier this year.

"I was proud to be part of such a vibrant organization at RDW. The tenor and tone that the founding partners set went on to build an agency that has done outstanding work on both a regional and national level."

Doyle mentioned a number of highlights during her career at RDW, including the successful Twin River table games campaign last fall,  as well as work with TF Green, the Providence Place Mall, and the cross-bay underwater pipeline as examples of "complex, multi-dimensional issues that I enjoy working on."

Partner Phil Loscoe with RDW said, "Given her husband, Mike’s, retirement from RDW Group, Patti’s decision is certainly not a surprise to us. Her departure was a mutually agreed upon decision that we believe will be of benefit to all parties."

Bringing Experience to New Position

"My intent is to be a full service communications agency," said Doyle.  "I'll be making more hires soon.  My hope is to be rooted in the Rhode Island community, but also cross beyond state borders as well."

Regarding the changing state of the field of public relations, Doyle said, "I still love this industry.  There have been a lot of developments, clearly, the tactics and tools have changed. Digital communications, and visual storytelling with Tumblr and Instagram, are just a couple of examples."

"The foundation of good public relations is still there, however," explained Doyle.  "You need to have a compelling, interesting story to tell. You have to communicate it effectively to audiences.  Tactics change, but we always come back to the basics. You need to be compelling, relevant, and powerful in a way that people want -- and need -- to hear."

Support from Clients and Community

Twin River Chairman John Taylor told GoLocal, "Patti has proven to be an extraordinary resource for Twin River management in terms of successfully communicating our messages and executing public relations strategies and tactics. We're confident she'll continue to be a success."

Doyle was recently recognized by her alma mater Rhode Island College, with a special award for distinguished service to alumni.  Doyle had provided her services and expertise to the college in 2012 to help secure passage of a $50 million higher education bond referendum.

"Patti Doyle is a RIC alum who was recently recognized by the Alumni Association for Distinguished Service to Alumni. She is a bright, energetic and creative person who worked on the college’s highly successful Question 3 campaign last fall. I personally wish her the best in this new endeavor," said Dr. Nancy Carriuolo, President of Rhode Island College.
