NEW: ABC6 Hires 3rd News Director in 8 Months

Robert J. Rockstroh is joining WLNE-TV/ABC6 in Providence as the station’s News Director on January 4th.

The announcement was made in Providence today by WLNE-TV/ABC6 Vice President and General Manager Chris Tzianabos. “Robert is an award winning journalist with years of experience,” Tzianabos said. “He has improved audience share at each of the stations he has worked for. A proven team builder and strategic thinker, Robert has what it takes to grow our news product and better serve our southern New England viewers.”

"I look forward to joining WLNE-TV and its experienced and talented staff and working to make ABC 6 a news leader in Providence." Rockstroh stated.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Robert’s experience includes: News Director at WTIC in Hartford, News Director at WKJG in Fort Wayne, Assistant News Director at KSTP in Minneapolis, Producer at KRON and KPIX in San Francisco, Producer at KCST and KFMB in San Diego.

For the past year he served as Executive Producer at Verizon’s FiOS1 News in Rye Brook, New York. He was responsible for all on air content of the 24 hour news operation.
