Exclusive: More Chaos at WLNE 6 as Newly Hired News Director is Gone
Wednesday, November 30, 2011

It is not clear at this point if Mahoney-Paige was fired or left on her own. Whatever happened---went down quick and sometime today. She was not in the job very long – starting in mid July and now just 4 months later the 3rd rated station has no news leader at this point.
Mahoney-Paige took over for Dan Fabrizio who parted ways with the station when it was taken over by new owners. This news follows the crucial November ratings period which just ended days ago and as GoLocal reported this week, Channel 6 continues to try and improve ratings with not a lot of luck.
At the time of her announcement, Channel 6 General Manager Chris Tzianabos said Mahoney-Paige brought “years of experience…along with fresh innovative ideas”.
Channel 6 has had no comment so far. When a call was made to the station asking for Mahoney-Paige, the person answering the phone was referring all phone calls to Channel 6’s newest anchor Karen Meyers. It is not clear if Meyers is taking over the News Director duties for now until a replacement is found.
Mahoney-Paige came to the job with some experience having worked most recently in Hartford at WVIT and before that gigs at station’s in Boston and California.
