Care New England Names Two to Philanthropy Posts

Care New England, the parent organization of Butler, Kent, Memorial and Women & Infants hospitals and the VNA of Care New England, has named two to be part of its philanthropy fundraising effort.
The new senior vice president of Philanthropy and Governance for Care New England will be Karen A. Davie of Providence, who most recently served in a similar post for Women & Infants.
Davie’s career experience includes serving as chief operating officer and acting president and CEO of United Way of America; president of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the National Hospice Foundation; and the founding executive of the Bath Community Hospital Foundation (a 25-bed critical access hospital in Hot Springs, VA). Davie is a member of The Advisory Board Company’s Philanthropy Leadership Council. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island College and a masters in social work from the University of Connecticut.

Fortier most recently served as director of Museum Development for the Museum of Art Rhode Island School of Design, and was director of Development for St. Andrew’s School in Barrington, and director of Organizational Support for Seattle Repertory Theatre in Seattle, WA. Fortier is a resident of Warwick. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Simmons College and a master of public administration from the University of Washington Graduate School of Public Affairs.
According to Davie, the integrated philanthropy department will improve communication with donors and allow for better stewardship of those whose support is so vital to the work of the individual hospitals and the VNA.
