BREAKING: Withers Joins Staff At Betaspring

Saturday, September 10, 2011

Former Providence Communications Director Melissa Withers has joined Betaspring as a marketing director, Withers told GoLocalProv.

Withers resigned from her post with the city Friday.

Betaspring is a mentorship-driven Providence-based startup accelerator program for technology and design entrepreneurs. A blog post on the company’s website said Withers has long been a supporter of Betaspring:

“On that note, we're stoked to say that we've recruited Melissa Withers to the Betaspring team, to spearhead our marketing and outreach efforts. Over the past few years we've built awareness of Betaspring organically, and the success of our graduate companies has driven a continual increase in Betaspring applicants, in both quantity and quality. As we expand to two sessions a year, and ramp our dedicated Physical Technology and Gaming tracks, it is time to "turn it to 11".

Melissa will dive right into strengthening Betaspring's national and international positioning and help build new channels for our community of entrepreneurs, alums, investors and community partners to stay engaged.

She's been a supporter and friend to Betaspring since the beginning. I first worked with her at the Business Innovative Factory, where she played a pivotal role in building a nationally known platform for communities of innovators to test new business models in areas like education and healthcare.
