Birthdates Bring Keno Luck
Wednesday, February 25, 2015
A Woonsocket woman began playing the same numbers for Keno using the birthdates of her grandparents and two children. This weekend, while at Gonyea's Tavern in Pascoag, she bought a 7 spot Keno ticket and watched as all 7 numbers were drawn.
That prize is typically $4,500, but she added Keno Plus to her wager, and the two multiplier was drawn, increasing her prize to $9,000. She didn't tell anyone that she won, but went home immediately to put the ticket in a safe place.
Once she was home, she called the friend she was with at Gonyea's Tavern to explain why she left in such a hurry. The winner also said that when she shared the news of her win with her ten-year-old daughter, her daughter exclaimed "Now we can go shopping!" As a result, the winner's plans include a little shopping with her daughter, and to buy herself a car.
