NBC 10 Claims Big Ratings Victory Over WPRI 12

NBC 10 was once again the most watched television news station in Southern New England during the just-completed May ratings period, according to preliminary data from the Nielsen Company.

For WPRI, the numbers were another disappointment in the effort to topple WJAR. The worse news for WPRI was the longstanding syndicated Wheel of Fortune was a 26% decline. Historically, this has been a critical revenue generator for WPRI.

According to reported numbers, Channel 10 won:

“Not only was NBC 10 the news leader in every time period, but NBC 10 News beat the competition combined in all time periods with head-to-head newscasts,” according to a press release from WJAR.

WJAR is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., which owns and operated 162 television stations in 79 markets.
