RI.GOV Wins Two National Awards

Saturday, August 13, 2011

While the registry may not work very well, some of Rhode Island's Web platforms are performing well and collecting national awards. RI.gov, Rhode Island’s official state Web site, won two major awards – the GovMark Council award for Outstanding State and Local Government Marketing Program and a Best Fit Integrator Award from the Center for Digital Government.

The GovMark Council honored RI.gov for its Outstanding State and Local Government Marketing Program for "consulting, designing, developing, and supporting" the state's interactive  the Rhode Island Recreational Saltwater Fishing Licensing Program.  The program was created with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, Division of Fish and Wildlife.

RI.gov’s parent company, NIC, was tapped by the Department of Environmental Management’s Division of Fish and Wildlife, for its instrumental role on the Rhode Island Recreational Saltwater Fishing Licensing Application, http://www.saltwater.ri.gov.

The recognition led to NIC receiving a Best Fit Integrator Award from the Center for Digital Government. Rhode Island's anglers have embraced the state’s newly launched online Rhode Island Recreational Saltwater Fishing Licensing system, which is available through the state’s official website at http://www.saltwater.ri.gov.

License holders are able to fish legally in Rhode Island marine waters, all federal waters, and all reciprocal state marine waters throughout southern New England.
