The LOOK: Going Short for Glamour

Saturday, December 17, 2011

Does it get any more glamorous? Short cropped sexiness.

He was the lead hair stylist on Sex and the City 2, he made Anne Hathaway fabulous on film, and he's GoLocalProv's weekly style expert. Frank Barbosa, the Newport-based celebrity stylist, brings red carpet perspective to hair, makeup, and overall style.

We're going to bust a little myth here today, women.

If you think that you should hold on to long hair because it bring visions of youth and vitality, not to mention femininity, think again.

If you think of some of the most fashion-forward cities in the world such as Milan, France, Montreal, Ibiza, and so on, some of the most beautiful woman in the world are short hair sporters. The key to the look is to wear that short crop with confidence, head high, and plenty of feminine attitude.

Here are three reasons you should trust in your instinct to cut those tresses… no matter what your age!

While your youthful looks are in abundance, it's a great time to sport those short do's and show what you have under all that hair.

Going short is funky, flirty and confidence--all signs of living your life to the fullest.

For such a long time we thought that only supermodels or video vixens could get away with such extreme lengths of hair (Rihanna, for example). Let's prove them all wrong by showing out that there are supermodels amongst us here in our beauty haven: Little Rhody.

So go short!

From Sex and the City 2 to Rachel Getting Married, from The Sorcerer's Apprentice to Bride Wars, Frank Barbosa has styled some of the biggest celebrities in film, TV, and theater. He's just finished styling on location alongside film stylist Alan D'Angerio on the film, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, starring Jennifer Garner. He's been in the industry for 17 years, moving from hip neighborhoods in Chicago, to Boston's Newbury St, to Bellevue Avenue in Newport. He maintains that his real passion, though, is being behind a salon chair at Frank Antonio Hair and Makeup in Newport.
