You can rock that beachy, layered look no matter whether you're at waters' edge on at the office. Just follow these tips.

He was the lead hair stylist on Sex and the City 2, he made Anne Hathaway fabulous on film, and now he's GoLocalProv's weekly style expert. Frank Barbosa, the Newport-based celebrity stylist, brings red carpet perspective to hair, makeup, and overall style.

By this time we are well on our way to summertime hair, so let's pick one of the 3 best looks for the season and get on with the parties, beach expeditions, and road trips. (Remember, once you decide on a look, keep up with it all season!).

Summer look 1: Highlights

This is always a sun-kissed look for summer, no matter what your length or 'do. But make sure you don't add too much for the next three visits, or else you will lose that sexy summer hair and end up with a  bleached-out, over-processed look.

Summer look 2: Short is in

Short is definitely the rage this summer. Word to the wise: make sure you document the first cut with a few iPhone snap. If you were really feeling that short, sassy look, document it so that your stylist remembers and can have a diagram or blueprint to go by. Remember: your stylist sees many different people on an average week, so it's hard to remember how short and sassy you were

Summer look 3: Layered and beachy

This look makes every day feel like a golden one spent at the shore. When achieving your layered look, make sure you find your shortest or highest layer and have a cut-off point for layering. What you don't want is to end up with unwanted shorter layers than you have--cheek or chin is the best stopping point around your face. Make sure you articulate this, so your designer and you are both on the same page

Happy summer, and to all a good style!

From Sex and the City 2 to Rachel Getting Married, from The Sorcerer's Apprentice to Bride Wars, Frank Barbosa has styled some of the biggest celebrities in film, TV, and theater. He's just finished styling on location alongside film stylist Alan D'Angerio on the film, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, starring Jennifer Garner. He's been in the industry for 17 years, moving from hip neighborhoods in Chicago, to Boston's Newbury St, to Bellevue Avenue in Newport. He maintains that his real passion, though, is being behind a salon chair at Frank Antonio Hair and Makeup in Newport.
