Five stars for the sumptuous OH! Spa at Ocean House

Westerly's OH! Spa at the Ocean House Resort has just been awarded a coveted five-star ranking from none other than Forbes Travel Guide (formerly Mobil Travel Guide), the gold-standard guide since 1958.

It is one of only nine spas worldwide gaining the illustrious designation this year, and the only one in the Northeast. Joining the Five Star list along with OH! Spa are two Mandarin Oriental spas in Macau and Singapore, three Four Seasons spas in Vail, Las Vegas and Hong Kong. The list rounds out with the Spa at Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City, UT, and The Greenbrier Spa in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, and the Kohler Waters Spa at the American Club Resort in Wisconsin.

A beautifully high standard

The Ocean House's Spa sets a beautifully high standard not only for Rhode Island resorts but worldwide, as this designation attests. "The 12,000-square-foot spa is a treat for the mind, body, and senses," according to Forbes. "The spa's philosophy keeps with the Ocean House's dedication to natural living, creating seasonal spa treatments that fall into either the 'harvest' or 'ocean' categories."

"After your spa treatment, take in the views of the Atlantic Ocean from the spa's relaxation room, where you can rest on plush lounge chairs and curl up with the spa's cashmere blankets."

More stars for Ocean House

Ocean House also took coveted four-star rankings from Forbes this year in both the hotel and restaurant categories. It's the only Rhode Island property to be so honored.

The guide has launched a new, interactive Web site at www.startle.com. For more information on OH! Spa as well as the Ocean House overall, go here. The Ocean House, 1 Bluff Ave, Watch Hill, 584-7000.
