Highlighters give you a youthful glow as well as a bit of holiday shimmer for the season.

You especially want to be glowy around the holidays but working, shopping, schlepping, baking, and a few late night wrapping sessions can really take a toll on your skin. One way to get the spark back for all your holiday merriments is with a great highlighter. There are lots of new light reflecting cream products on the market today but the quickest and easiest way to get candlelit-from-within radiance is with a highlighting powder. Here’s the pick of this year’s crop:

Chantecaille Les PétalesLumière de Rose Highlight is inspired by the soft, gossamer color of crushed rose petals. This limited edition powder brightens with a kaleidoscope of colors that blend together to create a refined radiance. And the elegant gold compact will slip right into your petite velvet evening bag for touch-ups. (chantecaille.com

Lancôme Holiday 2012 Color Collection Blush Highlighter is a transparent powder that highlights with a dainty luster. It can also be used as a blusher to add light color to the cheeks. Its adorable stamped rose is feminine and sweet but the long-wearing formula will see you long past your midnight revelries. (Macy's)

Physicians Formula Powder Palette Mineral Glow Pearls is a frosty compact of multi-color "pearls" that illuminate and highlight the face softly. This is a cult favorite because it's affordable and fun to use. A quick swipe of your brush over the pretty pearls puts pretty right into your holiday evening look. (Ulta Beauty)

Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc Mosaic is a very smooth formulation that gives a lovely sheen without looking metallic. This personal fav comes in Mercier's signature sparkly brown compact and is perfect for nocturnal shimmering but is subtle enough to put a little glow into your daytime look as well. You won't want to head to the annual company festivity without it. (Sephora)

One of the benefits of highlighters is the attention grabbing shine they give to cheeks, brows, nose, and eyes. But don't forget the youthful glow they impart with their wee light reflecting glitters. The rest is up to you.
