When it comes to women’s clothing, there are an insane amount of places to shop here in Rhode Island. But what about the guys? Tailored, well-fitting clothing for men is elusive save for department stores, so where to go? Two words: Marc Allen.

The Men's Clothier of Rhode Island

Marc Allen, located in Providence, is the men’s clothier of yesteryear with personal service, attention to detail and love of clothing, cloth and the fine art of dressing. Throw in ties, cufflinks and accessories and it's a one-stop shop for the fashionable man.

Owner and admitted clotheshorse Marc Streisand opened his shop in 2005 and has since rocked the men’s fashion world. From good old shopping for basics to personalized tailoring to in-home consulting, Marc and his staff customize the experience for each client.

The Men Behind the Scenes

Marc grew up in New Jersey and lived in New York City before moving to Rhode Island shortly after 9/11 and began working on opening his business. “I love the amount of culture and physical beauty in Providence,” he says.

After over five years in business, Marc Allen is the go-to destination for men who want an experience, not just a run to the store. “I love taking cloth and turning it into something special for my clients. It is a very creative process.” Marc works closely with business partner Jim Fortier and master tailor Jorge Almeida to ensure one-of-a-kind service to their clients.

Marc plans on continuing to make his “Marc” on men’s fashion but the sky is truly the limit: “Luxury goods will always be part of who we are but we could grow and open other locations, get into women’s fashion, it is all possible.”

Before we part, I needed to know Marc’s single best piece of advice for men wearing ill-fitting clothing: “Get a good tailor or better yet, come see me at Marc Allen.”
