We all make beauty mistakes, right? We’ve all had that haircut we’ve cringed and cried over (just a trim!) or the eyebrows we overplucked. We scouted out the worst beauty mishaps and boo boos we all make and how to get through it with style.

The Bad Cut

We have all been there: we want a trim or a really chic style and we come out with inches gone and our hearts broken. Maybe it was a wayward stylist or maybe it was a family member, but once the crime is done, it is not easy to go back. If your hair is cut shorter than you wanted, the best advice is just to go with it. See a stylist (NOT the one who butchered you!) who can help you sculpt your cut into a style you can live with until it grows out. Head on over to Coiffurium in Providence to have their talented staff help you go from traumatized to tantalizing.

I have done it and so have you: annihilated your eyebrows. Just a hair here and a hair there (and oh another one there!) and suddenly you go from spiffy to sparse. Or you meet up with an overattentive waxer to takes just a little too much off. Makeup artist Kirsten Brusse has a simple piece of advice: be patient. “Unfortunately you have to wait it out and let them grow back in. You can fill in a bit with some brow powder but for the most part , it’s a waiting game. Then see a reptuable brow artist or get a brow kit to help you maintain your brows.” Try Anastasia The Kit for Perfect Brows and Eyes ($75, Sephora) to keep your brows in perfect shape anytime, anywhere.

The Snooki

Jersey Shore fans, calm yourselves; I can appreciate Snooki and her fame but her overtanning is just wrong. That orangey look may lend itself to a fun Halloween costume but not many people make the effort to look this way; however it does happen. What to do with a self-tanner overindulgence or a spray tan gone wrong? Most spray tans take 6-8 hours to fully set so showering immediately will remove most of the color. If you self-tan at home, get over to the kitchen and scrub with baking soda to dull down the color and fix any off-spots.

The Breakout

If you have never had a spa facial treatment before your skin could be in for a surprise. I have talked to many women whose faces have rebelled after a treatment and been left with breakouts, rashes and more. To prevent this you need to do your research and talk to a licensed aesthetician to find out how your skin would react to various ingredients, treatments and extractions. If you do break out or your skin reacts from a treatment, call the spa and let the aesthetician look at your skin to figure out why it happened and what products can be used to heal.
